Care & Cleaning

Our enamel coating protects the pan’s surface, eliminating the need for seasoning before or after use.
Preheat on medium to medium-high heat for up to five minutes to ensure even cooking and reduce sticking. Adjust temperatures lower as needed during the cooking process.
Add a light coating of oil or butter to the pan and heat until shimmering, but not smoking.
After cooking, let the pan cool completely, then hand wash with warm water, dish soap, and a non-abrasive sponge. For deeper cleaning, refer to our simple 3-step cleaning guide.

I haven’t used it yet but based on the other products that I have purchased, I have high hopes that this will become my new favorite pan! Before Caraway I would always use my cast iron for everything! After buying a house with my first glass top stove, I stopped using my OG cast iron pan to avoid scratching the surface. How do I season Enameled Cast Iron, or does it need seasoning?

Our Enameled Cast Iron Cookware doesn't require seasoning and is ready to use straight out of the box. This means you can cook a wide variety of dishes, including acidic foods (unlike seasoned cast iron), without any concerns. It is easy to maintain—just wash it with soap and water.

While seasoning isn’t necessary, you may notice a patina, or sheen, forming over time from the oils released during cooking. This is completely normal, and your pan can continue to be used without removing the patina.

Is Caraway’s Enameled Cast Iron non-stick?

Our Enameled Cast Iron Cookware is designed with a durable enameled coating that reduces sticking compared to traditional cast iron. For optimal performance, preheat the pan and use a small amount of oil or butter for an effortless cooking experience.

Is it safe to use on all stovetops and ovens?

Absolutely! Our Enameled Cast Iron Cookware is compatible with all stovetops and is oven-safe up to 500°F

Can I use it in the dishwasher?

To protect the enamel coating, avoid using metal utensils like knives, whisks, or spatulas. Instead, use wooden (like our Prepware!), silicone, plastic, or nylon utensils. Avoid cutting food directly in the pan to prevent scratches.
