  2. DRY STANDING: Always stand your boards upright or lean against a wall while drying to ensure proper airflow and avoid warping and cracking.

  3. OIL REGULARLY: Use a food and wood-safe oil to extend the longevity of your board. Apply with a clean cloth before first use then once a month thereafter.

Can I use my boards for everything—meat, vegetables, bread, and cheese?

Yes, the Butcher Block is designed to handle all types of food prep, including raw proteins, vegetables, bread, cheese, etc. If you’re preparing raw meat, just be sure to thoroughly wash the board afterward and keep up with regular oiling. Some users may choose to dedicate one side of the board for specific tasks to minimize cross-contamination.

How should I clean my Butcher Block?

After each use, hand wash your Butcher Block with warm, soapy water. Be sure to clean both sides and all edges. If you’re only doing light prep, a simple wipe-down will suffice to avoid over-washing, which can strip the board’s oils. Never soak the board or place it in the dishwasher, as excess moisture and heat can cause warping or cracking. For occasional deep cleaning, sanitize with white vinegar, and to deodorize or lift stains, scrub the board with coarse salt and half a lemon.

Does the Butcher Block require oiling or special maintenance?

Yes, regular oiling is essential to maintain the condition of your Butcher Block. Use the included oil or any food-grade mineral oil, following the instructions in the Care & Cleaning Guide. Apply a thin, even layer with a clean cloth, let it absorb overnight, and wipe off any excess. During the first week of ownership, apply oil daily. For the first month, weekly applications are ideal. After that, monthly maintenance is usually sufficient.
